‘I’M LUCKY TO WORK WITH GURINDER’

Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar says the filmmaker is a visionary and she has learnt a lot working with her

Shriya Pilgaonkar feels fortunate to have got the opportunity to work with Gurinder Chadha. The actor, busy shooting the filmmaker’s much-talked about British TV series, feels Gurinder is a visionary. Along with Shriya, the series stars Tom Bateman, Tisca Chopra, Lesley Nicol, Gregory Fitoussi, Manoj Pahwa and Pallavi Sharda among others.

“[Gurinder] really keeps the team together, she is a visionary in that sense. She has been working on Beecham House (the TV series) for the past five years and developed each and every character in such a beautiful way that the plot is incomplete without them. I am learning so much from her… She is fun to work with, so the environment on the set is very positive. Till now it has been a joyride,” says Shriya.

Shriya plays the role of Chanchal in the TV series. And guess how Gurinder describes Chanchal? “She calls her a ‘saucy character’,” laughs Shriya. “Chanchal is a very young and ambitious girl, who wants to explore the world but at the same time she is tied down by certain responsibilities. There are layers to the character. It’s John Beecham (Tom) who brings her to Beecham house. There is both a mysterious and fun side to her character,” adds the actor, who is also doing two more web series and a Bollywood film.
