A two-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from outside her residence on Thursday. The incident happened in Bhangel area

The parents of the victim searched for their daughter in the nearby areas for an hour. When they were unable to locate their daughter, the parents approached the police.

“An FIR of kidnapping has been lodged at the Phase 2 police station following a complaint by the victim’s father on Thursday morning,” said a senior police official.

The victim’s father realised that a new tenant, who had moved in the neighbouring accommodation six days ago, is also missing. He tried to search for him in the neighbourhood but all in vain.

Surprisingly, the owner of the accommodation has no idea about the tenant’s name or phone number.

“When we enquired about the suspect, the landlord failed to provide any information. We found that the owner of the house did not bother to verify the person. No proof of identification was taken from the suspect. They don’t even have a photograph of the person,” the official added.

The victim’s father works as a driver at a transport company and he resides with his family at a rented accommodation. Sources said the police had interrogated a person known to the victim’s landlord but they found nothing.

“We have repeatedly requested the residents to get a police verification of the tenants. A simple form with Id proofs submitted at the local police station will help track the person. Now in this case, our teams will have to work hard for identification of the suspect,” the official added.

A MAN, WHO HAD MOVED INTO THE NEIGHBOURING ACCOMMODATION SIX DAYS AGO, IS ALSO MISSING
