MADHURI GETS NOTICE OVER AD

- Radhika Nagrath letters@hindustantimes.com

The Uttarakhand Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has slapped a notice on actor Madhuri Dixit for making ‘misleading claims’ about Nestle India’s Maggi Atta noodles.

The notice asks Dixit the grounds on which she claims the noodles will make children healthy and happy as well as provide fibre equivalent to that of three rotis.

Five samples of the noodles were picked earlier this week and sent to Rudrapur lab for testing where they failed the preliminary test, officials claim. Recently, the officials in Uttar Pradesh had also collected Maggi samples for containing MSG and lead above the prescribed limit.

Food safety officer Dileep Jain said, “We have sent a notice seeking proof with scientific facts regarding the claims.” He has also asked for an agreement copy between Nestle India and the actor to determine who is responsible in case of legal action.
