BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday accused CM Nitish Kumar of derailing Bihar’s development train by severing ties with the BJP and joining hands with RJD chief Lalu Prasad due to his greed for power.

“Lalu Prasad had derailed a static Bihar and Nitish a developing Bihar,” Modi said at the ‘IBN Bihar Dialogue-2.0’, organised in partnership with HT in Patna.

Modi said Kumar has assumed the driver’s seat of a coalition that was infamous for poor law and order and governance.

“The revenue growth during the NDA rule was 20% while it is 3.3% today. The rise in crime figure has surpassed the 2005 records,” he said.

Blaming Kumar for political instability, Modi said that JD(U) and RJD tried merger of Janata Parivar constituents with SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav as its leader but the experiment failed.

“Usually, during every election the opposition tries to stop the ruling party from coming to power. But this is the first time that the ruling coalition is trying to stop the opposition from coming to power,” he said.

Appealing to the people to give BJP-led NDA a chance, Modi said Bihar has been facing the brunt of political instability for the past 25 months.

To a question on absence of a CM face in Bihar, Modi said that the BJP had a number of able administrators who could become the chief minister.
