In what turned out to be the first meeting between the elected office-bearers of the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), the latter took the opportunity to explain the guidelines under which the BCCI will function during the period till the transition to the new governance structure is complete.

The one-and-a-half hour meeting was attended by BCCI vicepresident CK Khanna, joint-secretary Amitabh Choudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, and CoA’s Vikram Limaye and Diana Eduljee alongwith the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri.

Khanna & Co had planned to hold meetings of BCCI members on April 9, the National Cricket Academy’s Board and the IPL governing council, but according to the directives issued by CoA, they will need to get written permission from the Vinod Rai-led body to convene any meeting.

The BCCI officials have been asked to postpone their meetings till the written permission procedure is followed.

Treasurer Chaudhry said it was a cordial meeting. It was learnt that Limaye informed the three office-bearers that they have to function under the supervision of the administrators, as per Supreme Court’s instructions. The CoA also instructed that payments on behalf of BCCI will have to be approved by both joint secretary and CEO. “If the CoA decides that the payment needs to be made, it shall be processed and made.”
