BJP asks union ministries to collate data on schemes for Delhi
SOURCES SAID THE DATA WILL BE USED BY THE PARTY TO SHOW THE PEOPLE, WHAT THEIR GOVT HAS DONE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DELHI
Ahead of the crucial Delhi MCD elections on April 23, the top BJP leadership has asked all union ministries and government departments to collate data on the programmes and schemes implemented in Delhi ever since the party came to power at the Centre in 2014.
Sources said the data will be used by the party to show the people, what their government has done for the development of Delhi. All the three MCDs -- East Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation and South Delhi Municipal Corporation -- are ruled by the BJP and they facing massive antiincumbency in the face of two civic bodies going almost bankrupt and repeated strikes by their workers over non-payment of dues.
Sources said on the “express” instructions of Union urban development minister and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu various ministries are arranging details of various programmes being implemented in Delhi and future plans.
“In the context of forthcoming Delhi elections, it is essential that, among other things, the electorate of Delhi is presented with facts, figures, data, etc, on what the union government has been doing for them. This information should be organised in a systematic manner so that the same could be used during poll campaigning,” said a letter from the office of Naidu to the principal secretaries and OSDs (officers on special duty) of various ministries and departments.
The party suggested the ministries that lengthy and unnecessary narrative of a scheme/programme may be avoided focusing chiefly on the essential features that could be of particular interest and easily presentable to the electorate during campaigning.
A senior official at the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry admitted to have received the letter. He said that the ministry had responded to the letter last week, briefing various projects accomplished and short as well as long term plans outlined from Delhi.
