RECOGNISE AN EMERGENCY. SAVE A LIFE.
The easiest way to recognise when a person is going through any medical emergency, is by learning its common symptoms. It’s important to make the right decision. Because every second counts.
Cuts & Sprains
Cuts and sprains may be two of the most common types of emergencies, but they should be given immediate
care.
For cuts:
Clean the cut under clean running water Apply pressure with a gauze or clean cloth to stop the bleeding Elevate the part with the cut to reduce bleeding For sprains:
Rest the affected part and keep it elevated Apply an ice pack to reduce swelling
Burns
While it is absolutely critical that an ambulance is called immediately in case of serious burn injuries, it is equally important to know the basics of burn care. First aid is a priority.
Put out the fire with a thick cloth/ blanket, or a carpet Remove all burnt clothing from the victim immediately Wash the affected areas under cold running water for relief
Cover scalded areas with cling film or a clean cloth soaked in cold water
Do not apply any ointment until a proper clinical assessment is made
