SIKH INSTITUTIONS Aspirants of these colleges will have to first fill up the common Delhi University form
The Delhi University’s four Sikh minority colleges will begin their common online registration on Friday.
NEW DELHI : Delhi University’s four Sikh minority colleges will begin their common online registration on Friday, four days after the university started its central registration process.
The four colleges are Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College of Commerce, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College, and Mata Sundri College for Women.
There is a common website www.dukhalsacolleges.com where registration for all four colleges will be done.
These colleges, which are maintained by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), a statutory body established under an Act of the Parliament, reserve 50% seats for Sikh students.
“We will start the online registration process from tomorrow. There is a common form for the four colleges and students can take admission wherever you meet the cutoff. Students can fill in all the personal details in the form and when the results will be declared, they will be able to complete it,” said an official.
Students who want to apply to these colleges will have to first register at the university’s common registration form and generate a registration number.
“Students will have to fill the central registration number in the common form and all the details already submitted by them in the central form will automatically be updated here,” said Jaswinder Singh, principal of SGTB Khalsa College.
Singh said applicants will have to fill a separate registration fee of Rs 100.
Students will have to get their Sikh Minority Certificate made from the office of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, before admission.
“This certificate is mandatory for candidates seeking admission under minority category,” officials said.
Two other minority colleges –St Stephen’s and Jesus and Mary College –had started their online registration process on Monday along with DU’s centralized registration process.
For admission to any of the minority college, a student will have to fill the separate college form after registering with the university.
“This year we have developed a system that the general information provided by the candidate in the central registration form will automatically be updated in the college specific form,” said Ashutosh Bhardwaj, officer on special duty (OSD), admissions.
For 57 courses across different colleges last year, DU had received over 3.6 lakh applications. For clearing admission related queries, DU is holding a 10-day ‘Open Days’ event. An admission help desk has also been set up at the North Campus conference centre, which works from 10 am till 5pm.
