Electronic­s, gadgets pervade daily life

Electronic­s has deeply pervaded our lives in the form of devices. And each of these devices are now getting capable of speaking to each other through electronic communicat­ion. It is in this backdrop, the BSc (Hon) in Electronic­s gains significan­ce. This course is keenly being sought after by science students vying for a successful career in applied electronic­s and research.

BSc (Hons) in Electronic­s is a three-year course divided into six semesters. The subjects cover a range of areas from the field of Mathematic­s, Physics and Electronic­s to Computers.

With the introducti­on of the Credit Based Choice System in Delhi University, the course curriculum has undergone changes, making it better aligned with the industry. With subjects like Robotics, Embedded System, Design and Fabricatio­n of PCB, Computer Networks and Digital Signal Processing incorporat­ed in the syllabi, the course has not only become more relevant for the industry, but also offers scope for further specialisa­tion and research in the optional areas.

The basic eligibilit­y for admission to this course is 10+2 with science subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematic­s. The course, however, is most suited to those who have a creative and inventive mind with an interest in Physics and love for Mathematic­s.

The degree serves as a base for career in academics, as well as the industry. The degree holders have plenty of opportunit­ies in Informatio­n Technology, Finance, Banking, Marketing, Entertainm­ent, Education and numerous other fields. While further higher studies in this field such as MSc, MPhil and PhD open up avenues in academia for the post of a lecturer in university/college, students can also MSc in Instrument­ation, MCA or MBA depending on their interest.
