Water at low pressure in East and South Delhi localities

Gear up for water crisis in the days of come if you live in East or South Delhi.

According to the Delhi Jal Board, water supply will be hit from Monday evening at Nirman Vihar, Preet Vihar, Defence Enclave, Laxmi Nagar, Shakarpur, Mayur Vihar Phase-I/II/III, Vinod Nagar, Mandawli and Trilokpuri, among others.

This is due to repair of a leakage near Laxmi Nagar Metro station and will continue till Tuesday. A stretch of Vikas Marg next to Laxmi Nagar Metro station got flooded due to the pipeline burst, causing problems for locals and severe traffic congestion in the busy market area.

The incident was reported around 9am, and the utility, in a statement, said it was repairing the leakage.

Supply will be affected in several areas of central and south Delhi, too, on Wednesday and Thursday, as the DJB will take up the work of plugging of another leakage near Rajiv Gandhi Smriti Van near Sarai Kale Khan.

Residents of areas like Sarai Kale Khan, Jal Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand Hospital, Greater Kailash, Vasant Kunj, Devli, Ambedkar Nagar, Okhla, Dakshin Puri, Panchsheel Park, Shahpur Jat, Kotla Mubarakpur, Sarita Vihar, Malviya Nagar, Chhatarpur, NDMC and the areas under the jurisdicti­on of the NDMC.

“Water tankers will be available by calling at 1916, 23527679, 23538495, 23513073, 1800117118 (Central Control Room), 29234746, 29234747 (Greater Kailash-I), 26473720 (Giri Nagar), 29819035 (Jal Sadan), 26137216 (Vasant Kunj), 29941824, 29941825 (Sarita Vihar), 22374834, 22374237 (Jagriti SPS), 22727812 (Mandawali water emergency), 22817228 (Yamuna Vihar),” a DJB official said.
