NEW DELHI: A day after an undertrial was shot dead inside the Rohini Court complex by a gunman who surrendered to the police, the Delhi Police said they have sent a team to Shimla to look for two men, who are believed to be hiding there. Police sources said there were three men who had come to the court and shot Vinod, 31, who died on the spot.

The gunman, 19-year-old Abdul Khan, who had entered the court complex with a gun , was arrested from the spot. During interrogation, Khan reportedly told police that he was a contract killer. Police said the reason behind Vinod’s murder will be clear only after the other two suspects are arrested.

“There are two suspects who were accompanying the accused when the murder took place in the court premises. Both have been traced to Shimla. Our team is there to arrest them,” said a senior police officer, who refused to be named. Till Tuesday night, police were yet to arrest the two.

After Monday’s shooting, it has been decided to issue passes for every entry in the court from Wednesday onwards, the Rohini Court Bar Association announced.

Advocate Mahavir Sharma, president of the bar association, said the pass system for entry will begin from Wednesday . Earlier, the association had given an ultimatum of 24 hours to the authorities to start issuing passes for entry. It had threatened to go on indefinite strike otherwise.

“For ensuring security, we had demanded that passes should be issued against every entry in the court complex. The authorities informed us on Tuesday that our demand has been accepted. Passes will be issued against every entry at gate numbers 5 and 7 from Wednesday,” said Sharma.

The association had met the police on Monday to raise their safety concerns.

Another demand of the association is that there should be immediate stop to entry of unauthorised vehicles in the court premises. Also, the association is demanding frisking of advocates.
