NEWDELHI:A 19-year-old man was arrested from Bihar on Friday for his alleged involvement in the murder of a 22-year-old man in north Delhi’s Samaypur Badli in September 2017, police said.

The accused, Suman alias Shambhu, along with four of his aides, had allegedly murdered Javed after they suspected him of having an illicit relationship with the wife of one of the associates. They lured him to talk about the matter, allegedly murdered him by slitting his throat and threw away the headless body near a railway line.

During investigation, police arrested all four co-accused — Gulab, Ranjeet, Rahul and Dhiresh. However, Suman was on the run. He was declared proclaimed offender in the case.

Deputy commissioner of police (Crime Branch) G Ram Gopal Naik said that on Friday, the police received information that Suman would be coming to meet someone near Motihari in Bihar. A trap was laid at the place of information and Suman was arrested when he reached there. During interrogation, he told police that he had fled to Ludhiana in Punjab to avoid arrest after allegedly committing the murder. He dodged a team of police there and fled to his home town in Bihar.

When the local police searched his house, Suman succeeded in fleeing from there as well and went to Nagpur in Maharashtra. His hideout in Nagpur was also searched by local police, but he again managed to flee to Nepal.

Police said that Suman has studied up to Class 10 and worked as a daily wage earner at various places in Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra and Bihar. While working in Delhi with his distant relative and co-accused Dhiresh, he along with other co-accused persons hatched a conspiracy to murder Javed as they all were suspecting him of having an illicit relationship with the wife of co-accused Dhiresh.
