THE ART OF WINNING

-

Under Jose Mourinho, Manchester United may not be pretty to watch but they sure know how to churn out results. With the Red Devils facing Spanish side Sevilla in the Champions League, HT looks at how they function under the Portuguese manager:

STELLAR HOME RUN

One thing that has certainly improved under Mourinho is United’s home record, which wasn’t so good under his predecessors Louis Van Gaal and David Moyes. The recent wins over Chelsea and Liverpool is a testimony to the fact that Old Trafford is back to being the fortress that it once was under Alex Ferguson.

BAILLY BOOST

He started his first match since November but Eric Bailly didn’t look rusty as he kept Premier League’s joint-top scorer Mohamed Salah quiet, and the Egyptian failed to score in a match he started for the first time in eight games.

Mourinho heaped

praise on the Ivorian for his efforts after a long layoff and will hope that Bailly will produce similar performance with crunch matches coming.

JOSE UNFAZED

While many have criticised Mourinho (right) for being defensive, the Portuguese manager doesn’t seemed to be bothered by such talk about his style.

He had said earlier: “I don't want to change the profile of our play. This is the way we want to play. I don't want to be the manager of a team that plays very well, creates chances and doesn't win matches.”
