Illegal arms manufactur­ing unit unearthed in Jhajjar; one held

ROHTAK: A special investigat­ion team (SIT) of the Jhajjar police on Monday claimed to have unearthed an illegal arms manufactur­ing unit in the district, arrested one person in this connection and recovered two country-made pistols and equipment used for manufactur­ing of arms.

Sunil Kumar (alias Angoor) of Behrana village of the district was arrested for running the arms manufactur­ing unit.

Jhajjar SP Sumit Kumar said that the police had received a tipoff that accused Sunil Kumar, along with his family members, was running a small arms manufactur­ing unit at his residence.

The SIT of the Jhajjar police conducted a raid at his residence and arrested the accused with two revolvers and equipment which was being used for the manufactur­ing of revolvers. When the police reached his residence, he was giving finishing touches to a pistol, the SP said. He said that the accused had been booked under the Arms Act and police would seek his remand from the court for further interrogat­ion.
