NABHA: The Nabha police, on Wednesday, nabbed three youths for the alleged kidnapping of a minor girl within 12 hours of the crime committed for ransom.

The 15-year-old daughter of a Nabha resident, Gora Lal, who is a commission agent, was rescued from inside the box of a bed at an accused Sanam Roy’s (21) house in Kartarpura Mohalla, here on Wednesday morning. The girl was kidnapped on the Tuesday evening.

Gora Lal said his daughter had gone for tuition on Activa on Tuesday evening from where she was to go to the market to buy some books. “The tuition gets over at 7 pm and around 8:00 pm I received a call from my daughter’s mobile number. The caller told me that she had been kidnapped,” told the father.

Gora Lal contacted the police and they registered the case against unidentified persons, says Nabha DSP Manpreet Singh. “Under the directions of Patiala SSP Gurmeet Singh, we took the help of a technical team in the search,” he added.

“In the morning, the girl’s father identified the Activa at a checkpoint and police nabbed the riders — Honey Kumar (22) and Gurpreet (21) of Nabha,” said investigating officer Shiv Dev Singh Cheegal. They led the police to Sanam Roy’s house in Kartarpura Mohalla, from where the girl was rescued.

Sanam Roy used to teach dance to the girl’s cousins at her home two years ago. The accused told police they were to ask for `18 lakh ransom. A case has been registered against the three.

For precaution’s sake, the girl was taken to the hospital for medical check-up and then handed over to the parents.
