-

Money for deaths: In September 2010, five workers had died when a rice-treatment plant collapsed at Khamano in Ludhiana. Owner was faced penalty of Rs 50,000, besides compensation of Rs 2 lakh each.

Mohali so near, yet so far: In June 2003, six of the staff died of burns at Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals in Mohali (SAS Nagar) industrial area that had caught the country’s attention. But it failed to move any policies in the next-door city of Chandigarh, the seat of power.
