BSF MAN, BOY KILLED AS PAK POUNDS JAMMU VILLAGES
JAMMU: With no let up in truce violations by Pakistan, a BSF personnel and a six-year old boy were killed, while a BSF officer and a jawan were among eight injured as Pakistani Rangers sprayed mortars and heavy machine gun fire through Sunday night targeting at least 25 Indian posts and over 18 villages along the international border in RS Pura, Kanachak and Pargwal sectors of Jammu district.
Similarly, 50 cattle died and 182 others were injured in the Pakistani shelling across the border district.
While Pakistani Rangers flared up RS Pura, Arnia, Kanachak and Akhnoor sectors, BSF claimed it responded in equal measure.
BSF Jammu Frontier DIG Dharmender Pareekh said, “Head constable Sushil Kumar, a native of Pehova in Kurukshetra district of Haryana sustained splinter injuries in the upper part of his chest while retaliating the Pakistani fire.
He was immediately evacuated to the government medical college and hospital in Jammu and given first aid, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at 12.30 am on Monday”. The jawan had sustained grievous injuries at Sangral post in RS Pura sector.
Pakistan flared up the border and targeted almost all posts north of Suchetgarh in RS Pura to Chenab River in Akhnoor.
Pareekh further said the Pakistani fire was strongly retaliated which has caused them heavy damage. BSF ASI RD Puri was also injured at Abdullian post. Puri, 48, of the 127 Battalion hails from Sivan district in Bihar. He was admitted at the GMCH in Jammu.
