‘Rape victim’ kills self in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: A 22-year-old nurse killed herself by jumping in front of a train at Jinda crossing after she alleged that police were not acting on her rape complaint lodged on December 24, 2015.

The victim had even submitted a complaint with the police commissioner on October 10, seeking action against the accused. She had also alleged threat from the accused.

Police station-1 SHO Balbir Singh said the victim had submitted affidavit about having given a wrong statement against the accused after which police recommended cancellation of the FIR, but it was still pending.
