HC directs ARO to provide answer sheet and merit list to candidate

-

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed army recruitment office (ARO), Ambala, to provide answer key and merit list of an examination to a candidate within 30 days.

The high court bench of justice GS Sandhawalia said that information was sought to be denied on the ground that it could not be provided under Section 8 (1) (d). However, a perusal of the same shows it pertained to information including commercial confidence, trade secrets or intellectual property etc. which is not the case in the present circumstances. Therefore, the information was wrongly denied without any valid justification, the HC held.

The petitioner, Kuldeep Singh, had challenged the army’s decision whereby he was denied the information about answer key and merit list of an examination held for recruitment of clerks held in 2013. He had argued that information is being sought on account of the fact that he had not made the cut in the recruitment process and, therefore, any further delay in the facts and circumstances would seriously prejudice his case and he might become overage for further selection.

The HC directed that the necessary information be supplied to the petitioner within a period of 30 days from the receipt of the certified copy of the order. FEMALE CONSTABLES’ RECRUITMENT: NOTICE TO HARYANA The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday sought the Haryana government’s response on a petition seeking quashing of the written exam result declared without displaying the marks of those candidates who had qualified in the recruitment of constables in Haryana.

The direction was also sought to display the marks obtained by the candidates in written exam. Besides, the petition also sought stay on the process of scrutiny of documents of the candidates.

The 1000 posts of female general duty constables in the Haryana Police were advertised in July 2015 for which physical screening of candidates took place in March 2016. The written examination was held in April. But the commission has not declared the marks of the selected and the unselected candidates. Interviews were held from October 16 to October 18.
