CHINA’S EXPERIMENTAL SPACE LAB SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES SATELLITE
China’s experimental space lab Tiangong-2, which is orbiting the Earth with two astronauts on board, on Sunday launched a micro satellite. It weighs 47 kg and is the size of a printer and was launched on September 15, the Technology and Engineering Centre for Space Utilisation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences said. The micro satellite is able to conduct efficient orbit control, process tasks autonomously and transmit data at high speeds, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Its mission is to take photographs of Tiangong-2 and the Shenzhou 11 spacecraft, which docked with the lab on Wednesday. The satellite, which the media has nicknamed “Selfie Stick”, has an infrared camera that is temperature-sensitive.
