Skeletal remains found in tank those of Yug: DNA reports

YUG WAS ABDUCTED FROM RAM BAZAAR ON JUNE 14, 2014 AND HIS SKELETAL REMAINS WERE FOUND IN A TANK IN AUGUST THIS YEAR

SHIMLA: After the state forensic science laboratory submitted DNA reports confirming the skeletal remains found in a tank at Kelston to be of Yug Gupta, crime investigat­ion department (CID) on Tuesday filed a challan in Yug’s abduction and murder case.

Earlier, the state crime investigat­ion agency was mulling to file challan in two phases.

VK Dhawan, deputy inspector general (DIG), CID said, “After receiving the DNA report, we filed a challan for trial today.”

Arun Sharma, director, forensic lab, Junga, said that 10 reports had been submitted with CID on Monday including the DNA ones.

Yug Gupta was abducted from Ram Bazaar on June 14, 2014. There was no trace of him till August this year. After CID arrested three youths, his skeletal remains were recovered from a water storage tank in Bharari. The accused revealed that they threw the abducted boy in tank on June 22, 2014, after failing to get ransom from family.

The three accused, 24-year-old law student Chander Sharma, Tejender and Vikrant, are in judicial custody. Five days after the murder, Yug’s father Vinod Gupta had received a three-page ransom letter. The accused had demanded ransom of `3.6 crore.

Sleuths had investigat­ed every aspect and raided the premises from where they get some mobile phones. After recovering deleted pictures, they got the clue from Vikrant’s mobile, which had a picture of Yug with tied hands.

During the investigat­ion, one of accused revealed about the location where Yug’s body was thrown. It was also revealed that he was kept in a house and the child was being drugged.
