KANPUR: A medical student from Bhopal, who got trapped in a coach, kept talking to NDRF personnel during the rescue operation but died soon after being pulled out.

Komal Singh, a student at Patna Medical College, told NDRF men that she felt her leg had been severed and died of a heart attack after sometime.

Her leg was intact and had only gone numb.

Komal was trapped in the middle of the coach and the NDRF men had to use gas cutters to make an opening in the coach.

The rescuers kept talking to her for five hours and she was calm when the bodies were being taken off her foot. After coming out of the coach, she complained she was not able to feel her leg.

The NDRF team kept assuring her that her leg was intact. She, however, died of cardiac arrest.

2-YR-OLD LOSES PARENTS

Shristi, a two-year-old girl whose name means creation, does not know that the train disaster has destroyed her world.

She lost her parents in the derailment and is now under treatment at Kanpur’s Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital.

Unable to speak, she gestures toward her uncle Monu Vishwakarma, also a survivor, asking about her father Sonu and mother Malti.

“She was sleeping along with her mother when the train jerked and she was flung away,” said Monu who found her injured.
