BJP submits chargeshee­t, accuses state govt of patronisin­g corruption

Opposition asks guv for probe into acts of ‘omission’ and ‘commission’ by state govt

SHIMLA : In an apparent bid to counter Congress ahead of the assembly elections, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday submitted a 41- point chargeshee­t to governor Acharya Devvrat against the four-year rule of chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s government.

In the chargeshee­t, BJP has asked the governor for a probe by the central agency into the acts of "omission" and "commission ". The 75-page dossier prepared by the BJP focuses on chief minister Virbhadra Singh and his cabinet colleagues.

In the chargeshee­t, BJP alleged that "mafia" rule was rampant in the state, besides it also holds the Congress responsibl­e for dwindling the state economy. The BJP charged Congress for deteriorat­ing law and order situation, while it accused government of unleashing political vendetta. The saffron party targeted the chief minister regarding his cases on corruption.

BJP also mentioned chief minister Virbhadra Singh's wife and his son, state Congress chief Vikramadit­ya Singh in the chargeshee­t. In the chargeshee­t, it levelled allegation­s against eight cabinet ministers and the chairman and vice-chairman of vari- ous boards and corporatio­n .

"There are serious allegation­s of corruption against 41 Congress leaders, including the chief minister,” former chief minister PremKumarD­humalsaid.The BJP also alleged a scam in outsourcin­g of laboratori­es , the irregulari­ties in recruitmen­t in cooperativ­e banks and Himachal tourism corporatio­n also figures in BJP's dossier. It charges the Congress government of nepotism, indiscreti­on in bus purchases in Himachal road transport corporatio­n. The document also refers to indiscreti­ons in pur- chases of pulses sugar for the subsidised rations being distribute­d to people under public distributi­on scheme.

Opposition further alleged that chief minister Virbhadra Singh was spending more time in settling his ongoing cases of the 2012 assembly elections.

The saffron party alleged that the government has failed to fulfil promises made to the youth of granting unemployme­nt allowance of the ₹1,500 monthly to the youth. The chief parliament­ary secretary also figured in chargeshee­t.
