BJP submits chargesheet, accuses state govt of patronising corruption
Opposition asks guv for probe into acts of ‘omission’ and ‘commission’ by state govt
SHIMLA : In an apparent bid to counter Congress ahead of the assembly elections, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday submitted a 41- point chargesheet to governor Acharya Devvrat against the four-year rule of chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s government.
In the chargesheet, BJP has asked the governor for a probe by the central agency into the acts of "omission" and "commission ". The 75-page dossier prepared by the BJP focuses on chief minister Virbhadra Singh and his cabinet colleagues.
In the chargesheet, BJP alleged that "mafia" rule was rampant in the state, besides it also holds the Congress responsible for dwindling the state economy. The BJP charged Congress for deteriorating law and order situation, while it accused government of unleashing political vendetta. The saffron party targeted the chief minister regarding his cases on corruption.
BJP also mentioned chief minister Virbhadra Singh's wife and his son, state Congress chief Vikramaditya Singh in the chargesheet. In the chargesheet, it levelled allegations against eight cabinet ministers and the chairman and vice-chairman of vari- ous boards and corporation .
"There are serious allegations of corruption against 41 Congress leaders, including the chief minister,” former chief minister PremKumarDhumalsaid.The BJP also alleged a scam in outsourcing of laboratories , the irregularities in recruitment in cooperative banks and Himachal tourism corporation also figures in BJP's dossier. It charges the Congress government of nepotism, indiscretion in bus purchases in Himachal road transport corporation. The document also refers to indiscretions in pur- chases of pulses sugar for the subsidised rations being distributed to people under public distribution scheme.
Opposition further alleged that chief minister Virbhadra Singh was spending more time in settling his ongoing cases of the 2012 assembly elections.
The saffron party alleged that the government has failed to fulfil promises made to the youth of granting unemployment allowance of the ₹1,500 monthly to the youth. The chief parliamentary secretary also figured in chargesheet.
