2 burnt alive in Rewari factory fire

ROHTAK: Two labourers working at a factory in industrial area of Rewari were charred to death when a fire broke out due to a cylinder blast on its premises on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Taleshwar of Badayun district in Uttar Pradesh and Mukesh, a resident of Rewari.

Sources said the duo was sitting in the basement of the factory after taking lunch along with two others when the cylinder exploded and fire engulfed the factory.

While the other two workers managed to run out of the basement, Taleshwar and Mukesh were trapped inside and burnt alive.

The police said around a dozen fire brigade tenders were called, who managed to contain the blaze after a struggle of over two hours.

The bodies of the two labourers were recovered and sent for postmortem to the civil hospital.

The police said they were trying to ascertain the cause behind the blaze, but maintained that the factory lacked fire-safety arrangemen­ts.
