India tops consumer confidence index: survey
india’s consumer confidence score rose to its highest level in 10 years in the december quarter despite the demonetisation of high-value bank notes in november. india’s score of 136 represented an increase of three index points sequentially, according to nielsen’s global consumer confidence index, released on monday. india was no.1 among the 63 countries listed in nielsen’s survey, followed by the philippines and the US, with 132 and 123 points, respectively. an index reading above 100 points denotes optimism. consumer confidence in the asia-pacific region in the december quarter stood at 111 points, up two points from the previous quarter and led by india, “a nation of determined optimists”, said the survey.
