Don’t give jobs to family members of killed protesters: BJP MP to govt

KURUKSHETRA::BJP MP from Kurukshetra Rajkumar Saini on Thursday asked the Khattar government not to give jobs to the kin of those who were killed while protesting during the February Jat stir last year.

“How the government can do injustice to the innocent whose houses were burnt by these protesters,” he said in a statement issued here.

Accusing All India Jat Aaraksahn Sangharsh Samiti president Yashpal Malik of instigating protests in Haryana, Saini said that such people are thinking that they are above the law, the Constitution and the government.

“It seems Yashpal Malik will take all the decisions of the government as he is thinking that he is above the law of the land and can force the government to accept all his demands”, Saini said.

He said if the government will accept all his demands under pressure, this will set a wrong precedent and in future other communities may also follow suit.

He also slammed chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar for bowing before the protesters and demanded that the government adopt other ways to persuade them, instead of bowing before them to accept their “wrong” demands.

“I did not speak as I was obeying instructions from the chief minister. But now they are making wrong statements as they are not ready to accept a non-Jat chief minister,” Saini said.

He added, “We are not slaves of anybody. I want to make it clear that if they will try to disturb the peace again, they will have to pay heavy price for it.”

He said some people are trying to disturb peace and harmony of the state in the name reservation and the government should not accept their wrong demands under pressure.

Saini demanded that the government provide reservation to all communities as per their share in the population

Saini also attacked Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala for “creating a drama” over the SYL issue. “They are misleading people now. Had they been serious about the issue, farmers of Haryana would have got water 15 years ago,” the BJP lawmaker added.

Asked whether he plans to launch a new political party, Saini said, “The decision to form a party will not be taken now. It will be taken at the right time”.
