HOME SECRETARY RAJIV MEHRISHI ON THURSDAY HELD TALKS WITH A TWITTER TEAM AND CHALKED OUT PLANS FOR THE LAUNCH OF TWITTER SEVA

In order to have an effective system for redressal of grievances posted on Twitter, the home ministry has decided to launch Twitter Seva service with the help of Twitter India.

The service already being used by ministries of external affairs, railways and commerce.

Once the home ministry also starts using it, all tweets related to the ministry will be available to a designated officer in aggregated form.

“It could be a tweet tagged to home ministry’s handle or it could catch certain key words in a tweet and make them available to the ministry. If there is anything on which any action is required, the ministry will get in touch with department concerned. The ministry is now deciding on the resources it will have to put in place for an effective Twitter Seva,” said a home ministry official on the condition of anonymity.

Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on Thursday discussed the issue with a delegation of Twitter led by Raheel Khursheed, head of Twitter Seva for South Asia and South East Asia, and chalked out plans for the launch of the Twitter Seva.

At the moment, the home ministry doesn’t have an active twitter handle but home minister Rajnath Singh and his two deputies – Hansraj Ahir and Kiren Rijiju — are active on Twitter.
