CHANDIGARH: The Opposition on Thursday pooh-poohed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) twoand-half year rule in Haryana and said it was marked with “sheer talks and no work’’. This was during the debate on the governor’s address in the ongoing budget session.

Speaking on the occasion, Congress’ Uday Bhan alleged that the Manohar Lal Khattar government has not done anything for contractual employees, especially sanitation workers, and has rather been only lecturing on the issue.

“Bhashan dene se ya jayanti manane se kuchh nahi hoga (Nothing will happen by merely lecturing or observing golden jubilee of the state,’’ he said.

He also claimed that power supply is poor across Haryana and that not even a single village has become open defecation free in the state, despite the government’s tall claim. INLD legislator, Ranbir Gangwa, claimed that, on an average, Haryana witnesses “eight murders everyday” and that the law and order situation has gone haywire. He added that the poor, dalit and women are the worst hit by it.

His remarks invited sharp reactions from agriculture minister OP Dhankar and labour minister ister NayabS aini. They argued that Gangwa’ s source of information appear to be “dubious ”. Gangwa also claimed that over 100 dalit families in His ar have converted their religion. However, parliamentary affairs minister, Ram Bilas Sharma and finance minister Captain Ab him any uterm edit to be untrue.

Independent ML AJai Parkash argued that even though eight months ago Man oh ar Lal Khattar made 17 announcements, including constructing a mini-secretariat, a stadium and are st house in his constituency, Kalayat, work has yet not started in any of them. Earlier, B JP ML As Sub hash Bar ala, Shy am Singh Ran a and Ma hip al D hand a responded sharply to the Opposition’ s remarks against the government.

Dhanda said it was wrong to say that the B JP government was in experienced .“Previous governments had only dragged the state backward. But the B JP government, with its positive vision, has ensured all-round development ,” he said.

He also hailed the teachers’ transfer policy recently brought by the government and alleged that under previous governments ,“transfers used to be as cam ”. However, Congress legislature party leader, Kiran Choudhry, along with Gee taBhukk al, An and SinghDangi,Jagb ir Mali k and others, countered him.
