MOGA :Ten days after the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) recommended registration of first information report (FIR) against the Moga cops for stealing electricity using a ‘kundi’ connection at the Focal Point police post here, the antitheft police station in Ludhiana is yet to oblige the power corporation.

The theft had come to light on February 23, when a PSPCL team raided the police post and found that electricity was being tapped illegally directly from the overhead low-tension (LT) transmission line. PSPCL officials said they had sent the letter recommending registration of an FIR against the cops for stealing power to the police station concerned in Ludhiana.

Jai Iqbal, in-charge anti-theft police station, Ludhiana, said they found some facts missing in the recommendation letter and sent it back to the PSPCL for correction. Officials in the PSPCL, however, said they had been sending recommendation letter in the same format and there was nothing to be corrected.

Interestingly, on papers, the police post doesn’t have an electricity connection, but cops here were enjoying the comfort of an air-conditioner in summer and heaters in the winter. PSPCL officials said no electricity meter was installed at the police post and electrical appliances, including air-conditioner (AC), heaters, tube lights, fans, and inverter, were being operated on the stolen power. Sources in the police department said the police post was not even entitled to install an air-conditioner or a heater. The team had video-graphed the raid and confiscated the illegal wires.
