GRATUITOUS REFERENCES

The newspapers should avoid using the religious identity of individuals in the news headlines. Secondly, in all reports where some Indian has become a victim of a hate crime in the US, there is always a gratuitous reference to the victim being mistaken from West Asia. I wonder how the reporter knows that the perpetrator would not have committed the crime had he known that victim was from India and not from West Asia.
