Jaya’s son ‘fake’, arrest him: Court

-

CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Monday directed the Tamil Nadu police to arrest J Krishnamurthy, days after he claimed to be the son of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

Stating that Krishnamurthy had “... not only cheated the court but also prepared forged documents,” justice R Mahadevan ordered police to arrest the Erode native. Krishnamurthy had filed a writ petition in the Madras high court 10 days ago in which he claimed to be the son of the late chief minister and Telegu actor Shoban Babu.

He also claimed to be living with his adopted parents and said that “his mother” (Jayalalithaa) was going to introduce him to the public last year in September. VK Sasikala, the current AIADMK general secretary who is in jail, was against the move, and fought with the actress-turned-politician days before the latter was admitted to a hospital. During its preliminary hearings on March 17, the court had demanded proof from the petitioner and prominent social activist Traffic Ramaswamy, who was acting as Krishnamurthy’s counsel, and warned that severe action would be taken if the claims were found to be false. The court subsequently submitted the documents provided by Krishnamurthy to the police for an investigation on March 24. While hearing the case, the court pulled up both petitioner and Ramaswamy.

The court demanded that the petitioner submit documents to prove that he is indeed the late chief minister’s son. It said that the proof will have to be verified for authenticity by police.
