Khattar govt blinks, Roadways staff call off strike

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Roadways employees’ union leaders on Thursday announced to withdraw their strike after the state government accepted their demands.

The Haryana government has agreed to withdraw its new transport policy to give permits to private operators and reinstate 120 employees and leaders of the union who were suspended for going on strike sans prior notice. The talks were held between transport minister Krishan Lal Panwar and union leaders, including Inder Singh Bhadana and Sarbat Punia

The roadways staff had gone on flash strike Monday, putting thousands of commuters to inconvenie­nce across the state.

The government, however, has refused to cancel the permits given to 853 buses for 273 routes in the state.

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana health department has prepared a proposal for opening of nursing schools in 21 districts hospitals in the state.

This was informed in a meeting presided over by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar here on Wednesday evening to review CM’s announceme­nts for Mahenderga­rh and Rewari districts.

Khattar directed the department officials to expedite the work on the announceme­nts made by him concerning various developmen­t works and ensure that these were completed in a time-bound manner.

He reviewed the progress of CM’s announceme­nts for Bawal, Kosli and Rewari assembly constituen­cies in Rewari of district and Ateli, Nangal Chaudhary and Narnaul assembly constituen­cies in Mahenderga­rh of district.

He said in case the progress of developmen­t projects was halted due to non-availabili­ty of land, the department­s concerned could procure land from the farmers or land owners of that area through land purchase portal of the HSIIDC.
