CHANDIGARH:The internal bickering in the ruling BJP in Haryana got murkier on Wednesday with the party MLA from Gurugram Umesh Aggarwal accusing the government of trying to suppress his voice and apprising party national general secretary and state in-charge, Anil Jain, about what he termed as “atrocities committed on him by the government.”

The fresh outburst of Aggarwal comes a day after the Sonepat police registered cases of cheating and fraud in a land deal against his brothers and nephew.

Describing the move as a “political conspiracy” against him, he said that by indulging in such tactics, the government was trying to suppress his voice against, what he termed as, corruption in the government.

He said the land deal dispute was over a year-old in which his family members had also filed complaints against the rival party and investigations were on. “Now, by abruptly registering cases against my kin, the government is trying to divert attention of people and suppress my voice,” he said.

Aggarwal told HT that he had talked to Jain over phone and apprised him of the “atrocities” being committed on him by the government.

Significantly, at least five other party MLAs, namely Randhir Kapriwas from Rewari, Vimla Chaudhary (Pataudi), Om Prakash Yadav (Narnaul), Bikram Singh Thekedar (Kosli) and Santosh Sarwan (Mullana) also met Aggarwal on Wednesday to express their solidarity with his concerns.

“Such tactics of the state government would show the party in poor light and disappoint party workers,” Aggarwal added.

Notably, around a dozen MLAs, including Aggarwal, have of late been airing their ire against the state government and chief minster’s functioning.

Besides raising several issues concerning Gurugram, including controversial Gwal Pahari land deals, Aggarwal had also decried the state government’s failure to protect the interests of about 50,000 investors of a real estate company of Gurugram, which had neither given flats to investors nor refunded their money.

Aggarwal alleged that some BJP leaders were hand in glove with the company.

Earlier, this week, Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala had cautioned party MLAs against publicly dissenting against the state government or chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, saying that if they would not refrain from it, the party would take disciplinary action against them.
