KURUKSHETRA: The rusticated students of Kurukshetra University have alleged that they were not given a chance to prove their innocence in the case and have said they plan to move court against the varsity’s decision.

Four students of law department were rusticated over an online complaint of ragging reportedly filed by a junior student to the University Grants Commission.

“We do not even know the complainant and have not been given a chance to prove innocence,” said one of the four students.

“The decision has not only put a question mark on our future but may also prove dangerous for other students also as many students may misuse this in future,” the student added.

Professor Tejinder Sharma, spokesperson of the university, said the decision was taken after a thorough investigation and the students were also given a proper hearing. However, the rusticated students say they are planning to move to court as their annual exams are likely to begin from May 3.

As per university sources, one of rusticated students had a brawl with a junior student on April 7 and 10.

Despite repeated attempts, the university vice-chancellor could not be contacted and Dr RK Deswal, proctor of anti-ragging cell of the University said he was busy and refused to comment.
