BE A GOOD MANAGER OF LIFE AND DON’T SAY YES WHEN YOU WANT TO SAY NO

- HS Dimple innervoice@hindustantimes.com

It is difficult to be an optimist and an affirmative person. At times, it is no less than inviting trouble. Sometimes, saying yes to each and every person, proposal, advice or instruction that comes your way can land you with so much work that your focus gets diverted. Also, trying to do different kinds of assignments single-handedly affects the quality of work. It may even exert undue pressure on your health.

These great expectations may be put on you at home or at your workplace. Every person has a defined role and one should perform one’s duty. In some instances, you may help the other person. But this shouldn’t become a habit for the person you’ve helped.

Then, the person may begin praising you and will get their work done. However, behind your back, the same person may declare that you are foolish. So, always try to become a balanced individual.

Be diligent and optimistic, but at the same time, stay focused and assertive. Don’t let yourself be taken for granted by every Tom, Dick and Harry who approaches you for assistance.

To succeed in this big, bad world, learn to be resourceful. Develop your contacts in such a way that your life becomes smooth and unencumbered. Learn to get work done by other people. Be a good manager of your life. And, learn to say no! (Inner Voice comprises contributions from our readers) The views expressed are personal n
