DHARAMSHALA: Bharatiya Janata Party national chief Amit Shah said the Narender Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has presented a model of “inclusive development” which “touches every section of the society”.

Addressing a press conference at Palampur on Wednesday, Shah said that before Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power, the “scam-ridden” United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime was suffering from policy paralysis and country’s economy was witnessing a down slide with gross domestic product (GDP) numbers at lowest.

“In the last three years, the BJP-led Centre has made every effort to uplift the nation and India has now emerged as the world’s fastest growing economy,” said Shah, who reached Kangra for a two-day meeting with party leaders in Himachal.

“While in UPA regime, a new scam would unearth every day, no one has been able to level a single allegation of corruption against the present government in its three-year rule,” Shah added.

He said the Centre has launched 105 new schemes, ensuring their effective implementation. “The steps taken by us have led to our popularity growing more than ever,” Shah added. “The mandate we got in assembly polls was a reflection of our prevalence and party has not only registered victory in key states but its vote share has also witnessed an increased,” he said.

Terming the demonetisation move as historic and brave, Shah said that majority of public was in favour of the currency-recall step.

Listing the achievements of Modi-led government, the BJP chief said that Jan Dhan, Ujjwala, Mudra Bank, stand up and start up schemes have led to the upliftment of weaker sections and created new opportunities for the youth.

For agricultural development, Shah said, the government has launched schemes like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna and soil health cards.

On unrest and civilian protests in Kashmir, Shah said that government will be able to resolve it soon.
