Day after, father booked for murder

MOGA: A day after two minor siblings were found murdered at their residence in Fatehulla-Shahwala village of Dharamkot sub-division in the district, the police trashed the allegations of victims’ elder brother against their mother and uncle, and booked the children’s father for killing them.

The cops on Thursday registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against accused Sher Singh.

The victims, identified as three-year-old girl Jasmine and her half-brother Lovedeep, 12, both children of Sher Singh, were hacked to death on Wednesday evening.

Sources said Sher Singh had two sons Lovedeep and Dharamjeet, both physically challenged and bed-ridden, from his first wife, while Jasmine was from his second wife, Paramjeet Kaur.

His elder son Dharamjeet, in his statement to the police, had alleged that his step-mother Paramjeet and uncle Malkiat Singh had killed both his brother and sister using an axe after a minor fight took place between the children. Police had said that Paramjeet appeared to be mentally unstable.

Police investigations revealed that scuffles between Sher and Paramjeet were a routine affair. Sher was also frustrated as two of his sons were physically challenged, who could not even go to the washroom without support.

“On Wednesday, after an argument with Sher, his wife Paramjeet called her brother Malkiat and mother at home. Sher then had a fight with Malkit and later hacked both his children to death with an axe ,” police officials said.

Dharamkot deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jasvir Singh said Dharamjeet had accused his step-mother and uncle of murder under the influence of his father. But he has now admitted that his father has killed the children, he added.

“Sher Singh is on the run and the police are conducting raids to nab him,” the DSP said.

Meanwhile, bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the family after conducting post-mortem on them.
