Debtridden farmer ends life in Barnala village

BARNALA: A farmer allegedly ended his life by consuming a poisonous substance on Thursday. Body of victim, identified as Jagsir Singh Seera of Chauhan Ke Khurd village, was recovered near a drain outside his village. One of his family members said, “He had recently sold one acre to repay debts, but he did not get the amount he wanted, which forced him to take the extreme step.” Police said a slip was found from Seera’s pocket. Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code .
