Rohtak rally: Jat leaders seek support

-

HISAR: Leaders of the All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) visited Sirsa on Thursday to invite protesters to join the rally scheduled for July 4 in Rohtak.

AIJASS national general secretary Ashok Balhara said, “After taking a review from Jat leaders in all districts of the state, we have decided to hold a huge rally in Rohtak on June 4 to decide the further course of action.” Talking to Hindustan Times over the phone, Yashpal Malik said, “The government has only fulfilled the promise of providing jobs so far. About 80 percent of the people also got compensation but rest are still waiting.” AIJASS spokesperson Rambhagat Malik said, “More than 1.5 lakh people expected to visit rally on June 4. Our committee members are holding door-to-door meetings to spread the message of our national leaders.”

Meanwhile, dismissing reports of a rift within the AIJASS after Hisar unit president Krishan Kimara was sacked, Rambhagat Malik said, “Our national leaders wanted to give him position for the state, but he decided to be on the post of district president. Later, he himself resigned from the designation and we have selected another district unit president Himmat Singh of Mayyar village."

Kimara, however, accused AIJASS national leader Yashpal Malik of betraying the community and working under the directions of the state government.
