ROHTAK: The district police have arrested a man in the alleged rape case of a Class-7 girl in Rohtak’s Meham town on May 15.

The accused identified as Manish has been sent to judicial custody after being produced in the court.

The police said the victim’s father had lodged a complaint that his daughter was abducted from near her house and gangraped by around seven men in Jind.

However, during the statement, the victim said she was abducted and raped by only one man, who is also her neighbour.

The police found that the victim was allegedly forced to name more men in her complaint by her father and brother.

“The accused has been arrested. But the police will also take action against those who lodged a false complaint and forced the minor girl to record wrong statement initially,” a police officer said.
