Pharmacist held for accepting bribe
LUDHIANA: The vigilance bureau on Thursday arrested a civil hospital pharmacist for allegedly accepting bribe for making correction in a birth certificate. Accused Som Chand Goyal was arrested for taking bribe of ₹7,000 from complainant Bhinder Singh. SSP vigilance Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said Bhinder Singh of Ferozepur Village of Malaud wanted to make corrections in his grandson’s birth certificate. He contacted Goyal, who demanded ₹ 7,000. Bhinder made a complaint to the vigilance bureau, following which a trap was laid and arrested the accused. A case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused.
