Pharmacist held for accepting bribe

LUDHIANA: The vigilance bureau on Thursday arrested a civil hospital pharmacist for allegedly accepting bribe for making correction in a birth certificat­e. Accused Som Chand Goyal was arrested for taking bribe of ₹7,000 from complainan­t Bhinder Singh. SSP vigilance Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said Bhinder Singh of Ferozepur Village of Malaud wanted to make correction­s in his grandson’s birth certificat­e. He contacted Goyal, who demanded ₹ 7,000. Bhinder made a complaint to the vigilance bureau, following which a trap was laid and arrested the accused. A case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused.
