Kidnapping bid foiled, four arrested

GURDASPUR : The district police failed a kidnapping bid and arrested four accused on Thursday.

The police said the accused came in a Mahindra Bolero (PB 06 B 1145) to kidnap one Raj Kumar, who runs an aluminium worksshop at Bhatoa Adda under Dinanagar police station. As Kumar was not present at the shop, the miscreants kidnapped his cousin from the shop.

Cops said Raj Kumar allegedly had an extra marital affair with the newly married wife of one of the accused Kushal Kumar and the accused wanted to teach him a lesson.

Gurdaspur senior superinten­dent of police (SSP) Bhupinderj­eet Singh Virk said the accused were nabbed at Kharal village near Gurdaspur around 4.30 pm.

The SSP said that the kidnappers were identified as Kushal Kumar of Navin Jharhole under Dinanagar police station, Varinder Kumar alias Bindi of Rahon Road, Ludhiana, Suraj Kumar of Majra village under Indora police station in Himachal Pradesh and Mangal Singh of Tibri village near Gurdaspur.

The SSP said that a case under Sections 365,120-B, 427 and 451 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against all four at the Dinanagar police station.
