Family alleges cops ‘not arresting’ key accused
AMRITSAR:Even though the police have arrested three persons in connection a gangrape of minor Dalit girl, the victim’s family alleged on Friday that the police are not doing justice with the case by not arresting key accused.
Along with Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission’s panel formed to probe the matter, the victim girl appeared before mediapersons at circuit house here, where she stated that she was kidnapped on April 15 by two men with the help of few ladies.
“I was at home on when a girl from the village called me to her house citing some urgent work. From there, a photographer from nearby Daduana village took me to some building where they kept me for 11 days. During 11 days of abduction, they raped by after forcefully injecting drugs to me,” she said.
Jasbir Singh, uncle of the victim, said the police have arrested three persons in this connection but are sparing those who played key role in the crime. He said the key culprits are still roaming free.
Meanwhile, Harjinder Singh, station house officer of Jandiala Guru police station said, “So far, three persons have been found involved in the offence and we have arrested them. There is doubt on the involvement of the rest of the accused. The air would be cleared after the investigation.”
DALIT FAMILY ASSAULT CASE
Meanwhile, SC commissioner sought probe report by May 31 on the Bagga village incident in which, a Dalit family was allegedly brutalised by some villagers.
On direction of Punjab state SC commission chairman Rajesh Bagha, a three-member panel on Friday visited Bagga village falling in Majitha assembly segment to ensure justice to the Dalit family.
The panel comprises commission’s vice-chairman Raj Singh, member Gyan Chand and member Bharti Kennedi, who while interacting with the media, told that the arguments of both sides have been heard and they would submit its report to chairman by May 31.
Chand said the commission has asked ADGP (law and order) to meet it with the investigation report and the action taken report. “Nobody would be allowed to commit atrocities against Dalits and requisite action would be taken against those found involved,” he added.
