NEW DELHI: Things don’t look too rosy for India cricket team coach Anil Kumble at the moment. The BCCI has initiated a process to find a successor for Kumble despite favourable results on one side, while news are doing the rounds, quoting sources, that skipper Virat Kohli and senior members of the team are unhappy with the coach.

Kumble’s one-year contract with the Indian team ends after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Former Australia cricket team skipper Ricky Ponting feels the time is ripe for Rahul Dravid to take over the reins from Kumble.

INSTRUMENTAL

Rahul Dravid has been instrumental in unearthing young Indian talent with his work as the Under-19 and India ‘A’ coach.

The former India team skipper has also been credited for providing ample opportunities to youngsters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during his time with the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils.

“I don’t think the BCCI will find many better candidates than someone like him (Dravid),” Ponting was quoted as saying by an Australian newspaper. “If he’s interested in doing the job, he will do a good job. He’s got a lot of knowledge, is very experienced and understands all three formats.”

It is speculated that might not get an extension after the Champions Trophy since he has rubbed the BCCI the wrong way.
