CHANDIGARH: Terming the CBI case in Manesar land deals a conspiracy against former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, 11 Congress MLAs on Tuesday threatened to start a massive stir against the BJP government if Hooda is implicated in a false case.

Briefing mediapersons here, senior MLA Raghubir Singh Kadian and former speaker Kuldeep Sharma said that the BJP government had concealed several facts from the CBI before recommending the case to it.

Kadian said that any wrong step against Hooda would beget befitting reaction from people of the state and the Congress.

The MLAs, including Geeta Bhukkal, Anand Singh Dangi, Lalit Nagar and Shakuntala Khatak, said that a Manesar resident O P Yadav had moved high court in 2011 seeking a CBI inquiry into the Manesar land case though the court in its judgement on December 15, 2014 dismissed his petition by observing the conduct of Yadav as malafide and influenced by sheer greed. He moved Supreme Court against the HC order, which was pending, they said. However, on August 12, 2015, Gurugram commissioner of police, Navdeep Singh Virk, procured a complaint from Yadav concealing and ignoring the HC order. “It is shocking to see that the police registered an FIR on that very day (August 12, 2015) and referred it to DGP with a recommendation of a CBI inquiry,” the MLAs said.

They further said that it was shocking to note that the advocate general of Haryana, Baldev Raj Mahajan gave a legal opinion recommending a CBI probe on August 11, 2015, even though he was never approached by government for his advice on that day.

Furthermore, S C Goel, the then secretary, Home, has also disclosed vide his letter May 17, 2017, to CBI and state government that Virk, hatched a conspiracy against him by not apprising him of the HC verdict because of which he also proposed probe by CBI.

The MLAs further held that the government acted in a tearing hurry in the case that even chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar never obtained any report or comments from any concerned departments like HUDA, industries, HSIIDC, before ordering CBI probe.

AG RUBBISHES MLAS’ ALLEGATIONS

Meanwhile, Haryana advocate general Baldev Raj Mahajan rubbished the allegations leveled by the Congress MLAs saying that they had resorted to political tactics in the wake of the ongoing probe into the Manesar land deals case.

Specifying that his recommendation for a CBI probe dated August 11, 2015 was in connection with Haryana government’s affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court in May, 2015 and it had nothing to do with the FIR lodged in the context by Gurugram police on August 12, 2015.

Stating that likewise, it was on October 6, 2015, that he had apprised the apex court about handing over the case to CBI, Mahajan told mediapersons that it was on April 12, 2017, that the Supreme Court asked CBI to complete its probe within four months and has reserved its decision in the case.
