K’shetra professor’s daughter gets 12th rank in civil services exam

KURUKSHETR­A: Tejasvi Rana of Kurukshetr­a has secured 12th rank in the civil services examinatio­n, results of which were declared by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday.

“My parents gave me all support to achieve my target and my success is the result of their efforts,” says Tejasvi whose father Dr Kuldeep Rana is professor of economics in Kurukshetr­a University and mother Dr Sarita Rana is associate professor of commerce in University College at Kurukshetr­a.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Tejasvi said, “For the past one year when I was preparing for the exam, my parents provided me all help I required.”

She said that she did not take any coaching for the exam and prepared by herself.

Tejasvi, a BS (economics) from IIT Kanpur, said, “I wanted to serve the country as an IAS officer. It’s a dream come true for me.” Regarding her preparatio­ns, she said, “I worked hard and spent 8 to 10 hours every day for the preparatio­ns. But I was not expecting to get 12th position.”

About her future plans, she said, “In the coming days, India will be going far ahead in developmen­t. Administra­tion and officers play a big role in this and I will give my best to see my country progress.”

Tejsavi’s father Kuldeep Rana said, “I am very happy with the achievemen­t of my daughter and I am sure that one day she will prove to be an asset for the country.”

Tejsavi did her schooling from DAV School, Kurukshetr­a, and in Class 10 she topped the district with 97% marks.

CITY DOCTOR IMPROVES HIS RANK

Meanwhile, Dr Prasant Jilova of Kurukshetr­a has secured 108th rank in the UPSC exam. His father Dr Chand Jilova told HT that Prashant has completed his MBBS and is under training. He appeared in the exam last year also and got 812nd rank.
