HISAR: Now no one will be able to raise stink over the name of village Ganda (Hindi word for dirty) in Fatehabad and people of Kinnar (eunuch) in Hisar won’t be embarrassed to reveal the name of their village.

An official spokesman here said that the name of Ganda village has been changed to Ajit Nagar, Kinnar has been rechristened as as Gaibi Nagar and Chamghera in Mahendragarh district has been renamed as Dev Nagar.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved a proposal to this effect.

Notably, a 13-year-old girl Harpreet Kaur of Ganda (now Ajit Nagar) had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2016, drawing his attention to the embarrassment the residents of the village face due to its name and demanding change of its name.

After her letter, the Fatehabad district administration had received a communication from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to act on her demand.

Later, a resolution was passed by the panchayat of the village and it was submitted to the subdivisional magistrate, which forwarded it to the then deputy commissioner (DC) NK Solanki.

Similar is the story of Kinnar village..

“We felt embarrassed while taking the name of our village. We talked to village sarpanch Poonam Rani, who talked to Haryana finance minister Capt Abhimanyu, The minister asked us to pass a resolution and hand it over to DC Nikhil Gajraj.”

Villagers said they decided to name the village after Baba Gaibi whose samadhi is built in the village.

Sarpanch Poonam said, “We passed a resolution in September, 2016. And on Tuesday evening, we got a call from the CM office that the name of our village has been changed to Gaibi Nagar.”

FATEHABAD VILLAGE WILL NOW BE KNOWN AS AJIT NAGAR; KINNAR VILLAGE IN HISAR HAS BEEN RENAMED AS GAIBI NAGAR
