Wife, paramour held for murdering Tarn Taran man

TARN TARAN : A week after a man was murdered, the police on Wednesday arrested a woman and her paramour for allegedly murdering her husband. The accused were identified as Paramjit Kaur and her paramour Simranjit Singh.

The incident took place on the intervenin­g night of May 24 and 25. Charanjit Singh of Dhottian village falling under Sarhali Kalan police station was murdered at Dargah of Baba Gundar Shah at the village. As there was no clue of the killer at that time, the police registered a case against unknown person under section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

During investigat­ion, the police found that the deceased worked in a factory in Gujarat where he met Simranjit Singh of Lalu Ghuman village in the district. As they became friends, they moved in together, said Piara Singh, deputy superinten­dent of police (city) in a press conference held here.

He said Charanjit’s wife Paramjit Kaur fell in love with Simranjit. Later, Charanjit moved back to his village along with his family. Meanwhile, Simranjit too returned to his village and contacted Paramjit and proposed marriage to her.

But Paramjit suggested to eliminate her husband Charanjit first, said the police official.

As per their plan, Paramjit called her husband at the Dargah and Sim ranj it attacked C ha ranj it from behind with a sharp-edged weapon following which, Charanjit died.
