JALANDHAR : The rural police arrested six persons including a Kenyan woman and seized 1 kg heroin and 2 kg opium on Thursday. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth ₹5.5 crore.

The accused were identified as Suzie Achayo, 35, of Nairobi (Kenya); Gurdeep Singh, 42; Balwinder Kaur of Shankar village; Raju Yadav, 18; Rinku Yadav, 23, of Palamu, Jharkhand and Ravi Kumar of Phillaur in Jalandhar.

Addressing a press conference, SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Phillaur SHO Onkar Singh Brar laid a trap on Ludhiana road and stopped Suzie for checking. The women police staff checked her purse and seized 800 gm heroin.

During interrogation, Suzie told the cops that she brought the contraband from Chibuzo, a Delhi-based Nigerian drug peddler and had to supply here in Jalandhar to two people.

She was getting ₹10,000 for supplying and it was her second visit in the city, the SSP said.

Further, Bhullar said CIA staff sub-inspector Surinder Singh nabbed Gurdeep Singh and Balwinder Kaur after he recovered 300-gm heroin from the car they were traveling in at Shankar village near Nakodar. They had bought the heroin from an African national in Delhi, who is yet to be identified.

In another incident, Raju Yadav was arrested with one-kg opium from Adampur. Ravi Kumar and Rinku Yadav were arrested with 500-gm opium each.

The SSP added that cases have been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act against the accused and they would be taken on remand.
