Friendship is one of life’s great gifts - that can give an individual an inhibition free, comfort zone. But, who is our genuine friend? We often encounter people who are straightforward. However, we may not be inclined to make friends with them because we are mesmerised by people who flatter us by their sweet compliments , even if we cannot gauge if these compliments are genuine or not.

We may be reluctant to befriend people who are introverted, under-confident, or unattractive, but they may be loyal and trustworthy.

What is the use of a person who is mean behind your back, instead of pointing out your flaws to improve you? A person, who laughs at you behind your back, doesn’t stand by you, or envies your growth, is not your friend, no matter how polite, poised, gracious or attractive they are.

Always remember, all that glitters is not gold. We should create bonds with genuine people and try to stay away from those who are superficial. Rather than seeing a person’s superficial attributes, see the real person beneath the skin and then decide to bank on their friendship.

Friendship is not about accepting the right people; it is about accepting people and making them right. The moment you are a positive influence on your friend, the bond increases manifold, making it a relationship of a life time.
